University Clinic for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine
 

The University Clinic for Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is the largest pediatric facility in Austria and treats chronically and acutely seriously ill children and adolescents according to the principle of “evidence-based medicine”. The clinic's multidisciplinary experts are specialized in the care of various diseases, from the smallest premature babies to young adults. This is reflected in the 26 different special outpatient clinics, the 12 diagnostic and therapeutic specialty areas and the 10 levels organized according to disease focus. The pediatric clinic is closely networked with the specialist departments of the various clinics and offers child- and family-friendly care in cooperation with the healthcare professions.

As an institution of the Medical University of Vienna, the Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine conducts research in the fields of neurosciences, neonatology, rare diseases, infectiology/immunology/allergology, neuro-oncology, organ-specific diseases of the heart, lungs, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, urogenital tract, systemic diseases of the metabolism, endocrine system and coagulation as well as mental health.

With the motto “The specialists for the child”, the University Children's Hospital focuses on the joint care of the often complex and chronically ill children with the medical disciplines. The interdisciplinary team is committed to working with sick children and their families, involving them in decisions and enabling them to be close to the hospital.

The Ronald McDonald House offers ideal accommodation, a “home away from home” and relaxation in a private setting. The use of the house simplifies the daily checks for the families and thus enables a “discharge in installments”. This gives families security, time together in a routine close to everyday life and at the same time the opportunity to be at the hospital quickly if clinically necessary.
